I Pagliacci & Leonard Bernstein’s ‘Trouble in Tahiti’ staged as a paired evening of one-act operas for The Connecticut Opera at The Bushnell Center for the Performing Arts  in Hartford and then toured.

Director – Michael Uthoff, the award-winning ballet choreographer, making his first foray into directing, bringing his consummate choreographic talents to the opera stage.

Creative Solution : In order to make the opera work for the Director’s choreographic sense of continuous movement, Don Warshaw, designed the scenery to be presented in a continuous flow of balletic-like staging, creating both the physicality and sense of progress necessary for the production.

This was perceived as a fresh and exciting way to present both operas and was fundamentally different from the expectations of the reviewers and audience.  It was very well received and extensively reviewed.
